I didn't know how needed this kind of experience was for me and likely loads of other black women. Spending the weekend with such beautiful souls was so uplifting & everybody connected as if we'd known each other for ages.​
The retreat has come at the perfect time to help me be brave enough to go and get what I want for my future! I've never met so many in-depth beautiful strong black women and it's been incredible to have had the privilege to bounce thoughts and ideas off each other in a safe and calming space!
The success of Reign and Shine is only possible because of the way Maya and Trudie view Black women. It’s not superficial or lip service when they say they love Black women. Every detail, every activity, that perfect balance of experiences is down to the fact that they wholeheartedly believe that we as Black women deserve excellence.
Every element of the weekend, from twerk to knitting to therapy, catered to every aspect of my wellbeing as a black woman. It reminded me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and I deserve to be cared for.
I just really enjoyed us all being together. Everyone was clearly on the same page and wanted to get the same out of the experience. It was nice to have open, honest conversations in a safe space and know I wasn't going to be judged or looked down on.
I have gained a sense of belonging, knowledge, and mostly importantly FIRE twerk skills. The experts were INCREDIBLE, food was fabulous, rooms and grounds were exceptional, but most importantly the retreat reminded me how incredible it is to be a black woman.

We meditated; we counselled and were counselled.
We laughed; we painted; we created.
We twerked; we yoga-d; we turnt up.
We laughed; we cried; we bonded.
Most importantly, we spoke, were seen and we were HEARD.
You ladies were so receptive & responsive to our needs & I could tell that you literally just wanted us all to have a great time. You wanted to have it perfect for us.
Mission accomplished!
